It’s our first time traveling with in Canada and we’re off to Grand Prairie, Alberta !! (Who in their right mind chooses to go somewhere colder and with more snow than where they live????? We do apparently 🤔 ) My daughter and myself were going to visit my dad for the first time, he usually travels to Ontario to visit us. We were super excited to get there but first we needed to get through all of the craziness at the airport and we all know how crazy the airport is!!!! When travelling within Canada only have to get to the airport two hours ahead of time which is a lot better than the three hours we have to wait while travelling internationally, because let’s be honest any amount of time waiting at the airport feels like an eternity. So here we go it’s 8 AM we arrived at the airport for our 10 AM flight.…
Let’s keep in mind I haven’t traveled in about two years, everything is so different now. Thankfully we met a wonderful lady who is an employee of the Toronto Pearson international airport, she helped us book our seats and printed our boarding passes at the kiosk (because everything is computer operated now bracket. I know I grew up in this generation but I can’t stand it who else is with me?) After checking our luggage in, which by the way I was super proud of, it was a big suitcase but we only packed one suitcase and two carry-ons and my purse for the both of us for a five-day trip and let me tell you that is super light packing because I normally pack that much for a weekend!! I know my girls out there understand, the struggle is real. After what felt like 500 years (mostly because Annabella was stressing out, who else’s kids stress out more than they do ? 🤦🏻♀️) we figured everything out and decided to wandered around until we found Tim Hortons or Timmies (What I like to call it) to get our refreshments. I got my normal Earl Grey tea and Annabella got her favourite the original frozen lemonade. Getting lost and stopping at Timmies definitely helped the time go by fast and before we knew it we are boarding the airplane!!! We sat down and seats which by the way we’re technically not our seats because remember I have no clue what’s going on clearly -LOL- and started talking to you such a lovely lady. I was scared we were going to be sitting beside someone grumpy because let’s be honest there’s a lot of grumpy people out there but thankfully the man who is supposed to sit in the seats took our seats. Finally taking off, one step closer, we were on our way to the Calgary airport to get on our our connecting flight to Grand Prairie. When we arrived at the Calgary airport it was definitely a lot less confusing because it was less than half the size, it was super small but super cute. There was a guy named Ken stead he was singing and playing guitar, his awesome voice filled the airport and whole waiting Annabella looked around at some of the toys stores and the time went by super fast since our layover was only an hour. Next we got on a small tiny plane to go to Grand Prairie and let me tell you that was not a smooth flight, we had a ton of turbulence. Have you ever hit turbulence on the airplane before? It was super scary but we made it safe and then it was time to explore Alberta. I will post two more connecting posts to this one so please be sure to read them. Thank you guys for reading! Please share your airport experience in the comments, I would love to hear them and see if I’m the only one who doesn’t know what they’re doing and to see if my child is the only one who gets stressed. - Felicia xox
